True Blood Episode 9 – I Will Rise Up!

True Blood Episode 9

As mentioned in an earlier post, Kitty Kat will be reviewing the remaining episodes of True Blood for us. Therefore, without further ado, here’s Kitty Kat’s review of Episode 9 – I Will Rise Up!
___________________________________

Our naughty Viking strikes again! Tricking Sookie into sucking on him, and that sly little grin, who doesn’t love that? Sookie can be such a whiner sometimes. Did she really need to ingest his blood to have a sex dream about him? I’m not sure it’s Bill that’s dead. Poor Bill, I’m afraid he just isn’t going to be able to compete, and I think he knows it. Classic love triangle, glorious!

Speaking of glorious, after 2000 years, Godric finally meets the sun. I’m forgiving Sookie for some of her whining just because she was so sweet to Godric and Eric in their tender moment (tear). Sookie has been redeemed in my eyes, hope Godric found redemption, too.

As for our Egg-nigma, I think Lafayette has the golden ticket. “He’s poison, and he ain’t never gonna change.” Fantastic, eyelashes and all. As for Eggs being a god, our little drag queen sure “punched” a hole in that theory.

On to Hoyt and Jessica, how cute are they? Hoyt tried to set his mama straight, but in the end, he had to leave the nest. I bet he won’t have any trouble finding another “nest”. Think vampire Bill is up for a house guest?

Isn’t it great that no one had a fly swatter handy this evening? What a clever way to make a jail break. Good thinking, Sam. I guess every dog does have his day! Any thoughts out there as to how he’s finally going to rid himself, and the town, of that pesky maenad?

And finally, because Dallas is my hometown, I have some closing thoughts about the Texas/Dallas stereotypes portrayed in Season 2. Some are dead-on, no pun intended. Crazy right-wing churches, we’ve got ‘em. Stepford wives like Sarah, we’ve got those, too. Stupid Aggies like Luke, well, we don’t tell Aggie jokes for nothing. Stock piles of weapons, sure. Who doesn’t like the second amendment? But as for the “Dallas” wardrobe, black western wear? Now that is just mean. The Dallas nest happens to be in a very upscale neighborhood. You’d be as likely to see black, leather, western wear in that neighborhood as you would to see, well, actual vampires. It just isn’t done! That’s profiling, and profiling is wrong.

Check out my “coming out” interview in a previous article. I discuss several predictions about True Blood!

Also, check out the new forum called the True Blood Rehab Ctr. It’s a great place to meet other True Blood fans and discuss the episodes!

I cant believe eric made sookie do that XD omg poor sook :( poor bill! bad eric XD.

    • kittykat says:

      Hey Duh its Nai,

Guess you are Team Bill. He’s a cutie, too. I can see your point. But not Viking love for you? I think there should be a personality test that tells you what you look for in a man based on who your TB guys is. There are lots! Sam, Bill, Lafayette, Hoyt, Terry, the Viking. All hot. My rankings would be 1. Eric 2. Sam 3. Bill. Hoyt is growing on me.

Check out the new forum on the home page menu. I signed up to see. Hope you’ll post some comments. I’d love to see them!

      • Dalton says:

Didn’t Sookie suck some of Eric’s blood after she was slashed by the Maenad though?? Why didn’t anything happen then but now when she did it, it’s a big deal?

I also think Sam is great (heterosexual way). He’s the most normal (even for a shapeshifter) out of the bunch. Everybody seems to be either angry, into themselves, stupid, racist, etc. Sam seems to be the most level headed out of any of the characters.

The book talks about Eric knowledge of the Maenads…after being around for about 1000 years…but it would have been cool to see what Godric had to say about them before he took his life. I’m sure he knew even more being around that long.

        • kitty kat says:

          Hey Dalton,

Bill would not let Eric give her any blood after the maenad, but he did try. Apparently it is a big deal to get a vamps blood, forms some really strong bond.

Come to think of it. Eric gave Lafayette a whole bunch of his blood. Wonder if he’ll be attracted to Eric, too? Pam is certainly not his type!

          • Dalton says:

That’s true I forgot about that. What about when people use “V”?? Do the vampires who originally had that blood begin to have power over the individuals who use it??

Is that why Eric wants Lafyette to continue to sell it? That part got me a little confused…and it hasn’t really been settled yet.

Also, Eric is estimated at about 1000 years old. Bill is over 100 years. How old was Bill’s maker, Lorena? What about the Billy Mays looking vampire with the beard who shows up with the cowboy hat to kill all of the Fellowship of the Sun members? Or better yet, how old is the lady who takes over for Godric? She must be older than Eric.

Also, why didn’t Maryann just use her powers to mind control Lafyette and the mother when they came to the house and grabbed Tara?

  3. Tammilin says:

Still and always, mourning the “glorious” Godric… Kat, Maybe the Dallas Texans had a dress code? Like a football team or something, in a battle, they would stand out. Hilarious insights, being Texican, myself. Every town in Texas, usually, has these stereotypes. Sad, but true. Just like wearing the L. O. D. shirts at the flag football game on a previous episode. SO Southern. So Texan. I felt right at home in these episodes. The allure of TRUE BLOOD has many facets. Someone even remarked that the Dallas folks had different (and believable) accents from the other Southerners. The TRUE BLOOD standards for the TRUE BLOOD connoisseur are one of the delights that make this series so luciously lickably good!

    • kittykat says:

      Hey Texas Tammilin,
Glad you enjoyed the review. I’m actually from University Park where the nest is supposed to be. If western wear was a must, they should have done the show in Fort Worth! LOL. Love the team dress code. Kinda “Friday night lights?” Loving it! So, Tammilin, are you Team Eric or Team Bill? You know where I stand, how about you?

Also, have you seen the new forum they put together for us? Looks like fun.

      God Bless Texas!

  4. zurcherart says:

Laughing about the Texan connections. That’s just profiling! LOL

Stan was the only one I really noticed in full Cowboy get up at the house in University Park. Which I thought fit. Even in University Park isn’t there always one?

Another Dallasite, but now wandering the world …

    • kittykat says:

I’ve only seen them in full cowboy regalia in Oak Lawn, not that there is anything wrong with that. (Sienfeld)

      • zurcherart says:

Ha. Given the parallels the TV series sometimes draws with the Vamps, I was already thinking there’s probably some vampires into the cowboy look. Just like the boys out on Oaklawn.

  5. hart says:

I think lafayette is a witch, or has witch blood. If you look at the tarot cards scene, but why Maryanne is interested in Tara. One she is a maenad who loves people who celebrate Dionysus and Tara was dog drunk when she met her, maybe the handmaiden the person who helps with the sacrifice like the shapeshifting girl has to serve alcohol too, she started working at Merlottes, but notice Tara is the bartender. THey said she saves a lot of drunk people and help them out…interesting.

  6. Cathy Parson says:

If it weren’t for video games, my life would be boring.
