This series is about a high schooler with special abilities. Kaylee Cavanaugh can’t see dead people but she sure can sense when someone is about to die which sort of forces her to scream!
My Soul to Take (Book 1)
She doesn’t see dead people, but…
She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.
Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about her need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who’ll be next…
My Soul to Save (Book 2)
When Kaylee Cavanaugh screams, someone dies.
So when teen pop star Eden croaks onstage and Kaylee doesn’t wail, she knows something is dead wrong. She can’t cry for someone who has no soul.
The last thing Kaylee needs right now is to be skipping school, breaking her dad’s ironclad curfew and putting her too-hot-to-be-real boyfriend’s loyalty to the test. But starry-eyed teens are trading their souls: a flickering lifetime of fame and fortune in exchange for eternity in the Netherworld—a consequence they can’t possibly understand.
Kaylee can’t let that happen, even if trying to save their souls means putting her own at risk…
My Soul To Keep (Book 3)
Kaylee has one addiction: her very hot, very popular boyfriend, Nash. A banshee like Kaylee, Nash understands her like no one else. Nothing can come between them.
Until something does.
Demon breath. No, not the toothpaste-challenged kind. The Netherworld kind. The kind that really can kill you. Somehow the super-addictive substance has made its way to the human world. But how? Kaylee and Nash have to cut off the source and protect their friends—one of whom is already hooked.
And so is someone else…
My Soul To Steal (Book 4)
Trying to work things out with Nash—her maybe boyfriend—is hard enough for Kaylee Cavanaugh. She can’t just pretend nothing happened. But “complicated” doesn’t even begin to describe their relationship when his ex-girlfriend transfers to their school, determined to take Nash back.
See, Sabine isn’t just an ordinary girl. She’s a mara, the living personification of a nightmare. She can read people’s fears—and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.
And Sabine isn’t above scaring Kaylee and the entire school to death to get whatever—and whoever—she wants.

The Jane Yellowrock Fantasy Books by Faith Hunter
Posted by: | CommentsThe Jane Yellowrock series is a set of urban fantasy books by Faith Hunter. This series is easily one of the most intriguing urban fantasy books i’ve read in a while.
Skinwalker (Book 1)
Last year, Jane nearly lost her life taking down a deadly family of vampires who preyed on the helpless populace. Now, after months of recuperation, she’s back and ready to fight again. Except this time, she’s been hired by those she’s trained to kill – vampires.
Jane Yellowrock is the last of her kind–a skinwalker of Cherokee descent who can turn into any creature she desires–and hunts the undead for a living. But now she’s been hired by the Katherine Fonteneau, one of the oldest vampires in the New Orleans, and the madam of Katie’s Ladies, to hunt down a powerful rogue vampire who’s killing other vamps.
Amidst a bordellos of real “ladies of the night” and a hot Creole biker with a panther tattoo who stirs her carnal desire, Jane must stay focused and complete her mission … or else the next skin she’ll need to save may be her own.
Blood Cross (Book 2)
As a vampire hunter and skinwalker, Jane Yellowrock is public enemy number one to the vampire community – even though she is also the key to their survival. Now, she’s about to learn that working for the enemy is just as dangerous as hunting them.
The Vampire Council of New Orleans has hired Jane to hunt and kill one of their own who has broken sacred, ancient rules. But Jane quickly realizes that in a community that is thousands of years old, loyalties run deep, mythos have real power, and the past often has more force than the present.
With the help of her witch best friend, Molly, and local vigilantes, Jane finds herself caught between bitter rivalries – and closer than ever to the secret origin of the entire vampire race. But in a city of old grudges and dark magic, Jane will have to fight to protect both sides, even if no one will protect her.
Mercy Blade (Book 3)
Jane Yellowrock is a shape-shifting skinwalker–and a rogue-vampire hunter for hire. But lately she’s found herself taking blood money from the very vamps she used to hunt.
Things are heating up in the Big Easy. Weres have announced their existence to the world, and revived the bitter tensions that run between them and their old enemies — vampires. As a trusted employee of Leo Pellissier, Blood Master of the City, Jane finds herself caught in the crossfire.
When Jane is attacked by a pack of marauding werewolves, she is thankful for the help of a mysterious stranger named Girrard. He explains that he used to be Leo’s ‘Mercy Blade,’ a sacred position charged with killing young vampires who have gone insane. What Jane doesn’t know is why this powerful assassin left New Orleans. And more troubling, why he’s now returned. It’s definitely not to make Jane’s life easier.

The Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Books In Order
Posted by: | CommentsThe Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter fantasy series is perhaps Laurell K. Hamilton’s best known work. The series follows the life of Anita Blake who is born a ‘Necromancer.’ This gives Anita the ability to control Zombies and Vampires, basically, the living dead. If you love mysteries and the supernatural, then this is the series for you! I must caution you though that after Incubus Dreams (Book 12), I witnessed both Anita’s character and the storylines become increasingly overshadowed by the prevalence of graphic sex. As such, some of the later books can appropriately be labeled as erotica.
Guilty Pleasures (Book 1)
Published more than ten years ago, Guilty Pleasures marked the debut of a writer who was destined to grow from cult favorite to a major bestselling author. In Guilty Pleasures Hamilton introduces Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter. Anita is small, dark, and dangerous.
But when the city s most powerful vampire comes to her for help, Anita is faced with her greatest fear a man capable of arousing in her a hunger strong enough to match his own. He is Jean Claude, the master vampire destined to become not only her biggest nemesis, but her greatest lover.
The Laughing Corpse (Book 2)
The Laughing Corpse takes readers back to a time when Anita’s life was a bit less complicated.
As the best Animator in the business-she’s as good at raising the dead as she is at slaying the undead-she crosses paths with a creature from beyond the grave, a super-powerful zombie who is tearing a swath of murder through the city.
And she discovers that there are some secrets better left buried-and some people better left dead.
Circus of the Damned (Book 3)
When a powerful centuries-old vampire hits Anita Blake’s town, a battle of the undead ensues.
In Circus of the Damned a rogue master vampire hits town, and Anita gets caught in the middle of an undead turf war. Jean-Claude, the Master Vamp of the city, wants her for his own-but his enemies have other plans.
And to make matters worse, Anita takes a hit to the heart when she meets a stunningly handsome junior high science teacher named Richard Zeeman. They’re two humans caught in the crossfire. Or so Anita thinks…
The Lunatic Cafe (Book 4)
Anita has fallen for the leader of a local pack of werewolves. She’s survived a lot, but this love thing may kill her yet.
In Laurell K. Hamilton’s New York Times bestselling novels, Vampire Hunter and zombie animator Anita Blake is an expert at sniffing out the bad from the good. But she’s about to learn that nothing is ever as it seems-especially in matters of the not-so-human heart…
Dating a werewolf with self-esteem issues is stressing Anita out. Especially when something-or someone-starts taking out the city’s shapeshifters.
Bloody Bones (Book 5)
A look that kills for the fifth Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novel. Here’s a job to strain even Anita Blake’s capabilities: raising an entire graveyard of two-hundred-year-old corpses.
For the first time in trade paperback: the fifth novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.
When Branson, Missouri, is hit with a death wave— four unsolved murders—it doesn’t take an expert to realize that all is not well. But luckily for the locals, Anita Blake is an expert in the kinds of preternatural goings-on that have everyone spooked. And she’s got an “in” with the creature that can make sense of the slayings––the sexy master vampire known as Jean-Claude.
The Killing Dance (Book 6)
The Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter backlist-now dangerously beautiful. In her sixth adventure, Anita becomes a wanted woman-by a vampire, a werewolf, and a creature far more terrifying: a man who puts a price on her head.
Dating both a vampire and a werewolf isn’t easy. But just to complicate Anita’s already messy life, someone has put a price on her head. Love cannot save her this time, so she turns to Edward, hitman extraordinaire, for help. But finding the person behind the threat won’t be easy, because as both a vampire hunter and zombie reanimator, Anita has made a lot of enemies-both human and otherwise.
Burnt Offerings (Book 7)
Anita Blake is a vampire hunter. But when someone else sets his sights on her prey, she must save them both from the inferno.
In Laurell K. Hamilton’s New York Times bestselling novels, it’s often hard to tell the good from the evil. Just ask Anita Blake. She seems to be developing a soft spot in her heart for vampires-one in particular.
So, when an arsonist’s fires begin licking at St. Louis’s undead, it’s up to Anita to save the very monsters she’s sworn to destroy.
Blue Moon (Book 8 )
The Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter backlist lights up the night.
In her eighth adventure, Anita Blake can’t turn her back on a former lover during the full moon. Especially since he’s behind bars-and he’s a werewolf…
When she chose master vampire Jean- Claude over her ex-fiancé, alpha werewolf Richard Zeeman, Anita learned that sometimes love is not enough. But though she and Richard won’t be walking down any aisles, she can’t turn her back on him when he’s arrested on a rape charge in Tennessee. Anita knows firsthand that Richard has the morals of a saint—or at least a boy scout. But his guilt or innocence is not the issue. He’s behind bars, and in five days a full moon will rise…
Obsidian Butterfly (Book 9)
The Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter backlist takes flight with a whole new look.
In her ninth adventure, vampire hunter Anita Blake owes a favor to a friend-a man almost as dangerous as the ancient evil she’s about to face.
There are a lot of monsters in Anita Blake’s life. And some of them are human. One such individual is the man she calls Edward, a bounty hunter who specializes in the preternatural. He calls her to help him hunt down the greatest evil she has ever encountered. Something that kills and maims and vanishes into the night. Something Anita will have to face alone…
Narcissus in Chains (Book 10)
In her tenth adventure, nothing can save vampire hunter Anita Blake from a twist of fate that draws her ever closer to the brink of humanity.
Six months of celibacy have made Anita crave the two men in her life like never before.
But merging their powers together will give this mortal woman a taste of immortal hunger that she’ll never be able to forget…
Cerulean Sins (Book 11)
With her New York Times bestselling Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novels, Laurell K. Hamilton wraps readers up in stories of suspense and sensuality. Cerulean Sins is no exception.
Now, Anita learns what it’s like to be at the new end of a centuries-old bloodline-and just how far she’ll let herself get pushed around by one of the oldest vampires alive…or should we say dead?
Vampire hunter Anita Blake learns what it’s like to be at the new end of a centuries-old bloodline-and just how far she’ll let herself get pushed around.
Incubus Dreams (Book 12)
Vampire hunter Anita Blake finds her life is more complicated than ever, caught as she is between her obligations to the living-and the undead.
No one is as good at stripping bare the dark desires of the inhuman soul as Laurell K. Hamilton, something she has proven time after time in her New York Times bestselling Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novels. Now, in Incubus Dreams, Anita’s life is more complicated than ever, as she is caught between her obligations to the living and the undead.
A vampire serial killer who preys on strippers is on the loose. Called in to consult on the case, Anita fears her judgment may be clouded by a conflict of interest. For she is, after all, the consort of Jean-Claude, the ever-intoxicating Master Vampire of the City. Surrounded by suspicion, overwhelmed by her attempts to control the primal lusts that continue to wrack her as a result of her passionate contacts with vampires, werewolves, and the shapeshifter Micah, Anita does something unprecedented: She calls for help.
Micah (Book 13)
Vampire hunter Anita Blake is called on to raise the dead-while trying to suppress her ever-growing feelings for a certain wereleopard.
“RAISING THE DEAD IS EASY. LOVE IS HARD…”
There are lots of reasons to raise the dead-some private, some public. In this case, the feds have a witness who died before he could speak on the record. They want him raised so his testimony can be taken. So here I am, on a plane to Philadelphia, flying off to do my job.
But I’m not alone. Micah is with me. Micah, head of the St. Louis wereleopard pard. King to my Queen. The only one of my lovers who can stir my blood with just a glance from his chartreuse cat’s eyes. I was happy to have him at my side.
Until he mentioned that this will be our first time alone together. No Master Vampire. No Alpha Werewolf. Just me and Micah. And all my fears and doubts…
Danse Macabre (Book 14)
It was the middle of November. I was supposed to be out jogging, but instead I was sitting at my breakfast table talking about men, sex, werewolves, vampires, and that thing that most unmarried but sexually active women fear most…
Anita Blake needs to be concentrating on a dangerous situation: the ardeur, the sexual power that flows between Anita and Jean-Claude, Master Vampire of the City, and Richard, the volatile werewolf who loves her passionately, is reaching new levels, perhaps evolving into something altogether new. The ardeur seems to be choosing new lovers for Anita, acting with a will of its own. As Jean-Claude says, the ardeur is hunting powerful prey. The unexpected effect of this is that Jean-Claude’s own power as a master vampire has grown to new levels — and Richard, never predictable, is changing too.
But as the days pass, Anita’s less interested in vampire politics than in an ancient, ordinary dread she shares with women down the ages: she may be pregnant. And, if she is, whether the father is a vampire, a werewolf, or someone else entirely, she knows perfectly well that being a Federal Marshall, known for raising the dead and being a vampire executioner, is no way to bring up a baby…
The Harlequin (Book 15)
Into Anita Blake’s world-a world already overflowing with power-come creatures so feared that centuries-old vampires refuse to mention their names.
Anita Blake is about to face the challenge of her life. Into her world-a world already overflowing with power-have come creatures so feared that powerful, centuries-old vampires refuse to mention their names. It is forbidden to speak of The Harlequin unless you’ve been contacted. And to be contacted by The Harlequin is to be under sentence of death.
Long-time rivals for Anita’s affections, Jean-Claude, Master Vampire of the City, and Richard, alpha-werewolf, will need to become allies. Shapeshifters Nathaniel and Micah will have to step up their support. And then there’s Edward. In this situation, Anita knows that she needs to call the one man who has always been there for her…
Blood Noir (Book 16)
Readers can’t get enough of the #1 New York Times bestselling author.
A favor for a friend puts Anita Blake in the center of a full-blown scandal that threatens master vampire Jean- Claude’s reign-and makes her a pawn in an ancient vampire queen’s new rise to power.
Skin Trade (Book 17)
When a vampire serial killer sends Anita Blake a grisly souvenir from Las Vegas, she has to warn Sin City’s local authorities what they’re dealing with. Only it’s worse than she thought.
Ten officers and one executioner have been slain-paranormal style. Anita heads to Vegas, where’s she’s joined by three other federal marshals, including the ruthless Edward. It’s a good thing he always has her back, because when she gets close to the bodies, Anita senses “tiger” too strongly to ignore it.
The weretigers are very powerful in Las Vegas, which means the odds of her rubbing someone important the wrong way just got a lot higher.
Flirt (Book 18)
Anita Blake has been asked to raise the dead-but the results aren’t going to make everybody happy…
When Anita Blake meets with prospective client Tony Bennington, who is desperate to have her reanimate his recently deceased wife, she is full of sympathy for his loss. Anita knows something about love, and she knows everything there is to know about loss.
But what she also knows, though Tony Bennington seems unwilling to be convinced, is that the thing she can do as a necromancer isn’t the miracle he thinks he needs. The creature that Anita could coerce to step out of the late Mrs. Bennington’s grave would not be the lovely Mrs. Bennington. Not really. And not for long.
Bullet (Book 19)
The music came back up and the next group of little girls, slightly older, came out. There was a lot of that in the next hour and change. I liked dance, and it was no reflection on the kids, but my will to live began to seep away on about the fifth group of sequined children…
Anita Blake is back in St. Louis and trying to live a normal life-as normal as possible for someone who is a legal vampire executioner and a U. S. Marshal. There are lovers, friends and their children, school programs to attend. In the midst of all the ordinary happiness a vampire from Anita’s past reaches out. She was supposed to be dead, killed in an explosion, but the Mother of All Darkness is the first vampire, their dark creator. It’s hard to kill a god. This dark goddess has reached out to her here-in St. Louis, home of everyone Anita loves most. The Mother of All Darkness has decided she has to act now or never, to control Anita, and all the vampires in America.
The Mother of All Darkness believes that the triumvirate created by master vampire Jean-Claude with Anita and the werewolf Richard Zeeman has enough power for her to regain a body and to immigrate to the New World. But the body she wants to possess is already taken. Anita is about to learn a whole new meaning to sharing her body, one that has nothing to do with the bedroom. And if the Mother of All Darkness can’t succeed in taking over Anita’s body for herself, she means to see that no one else has the use of it, ever again. Even Belle Morte, not always a friend to Anita, has sent word: “Run if you can…”
Hit List (Book 20)
The #1 New York Times bestselling Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series continues!
A serial killer is hunting the Pacific Northwest, murdering victims in a gruesome and spectacular way. The local police suspect “monsters” are involved, and have called in Anita Blake and Edward, U.S. Marshals who really know their monsters, to catch the killer.
The Tawny Man Fantasy Book Trilogy by Robin Hobb
Posted by: | CommentsThe Tawny Man series of fantasy novels by Robin Hobb is the trilogy that concludes her series in the world of the Six Duchies. Although the series continues the adventures of FitzChivalry Farseer from The Farseer Trilogy, it is not necessary that you read the previous trilogies in order to understand these. But for those who want to dig deeper into The Realm of the Elderlings , I’d suggest you should start with the first set The Farseer Trilogy which is later continued in The Liveship Traders Trilogy.
Fool’s Errand (Book 1)
For fifteen years, since the events that shattered his old life, FitzChivalry Farseer has lived in a self-imposed exile, assumed to be dead by almost all who once cared about him.
A bastard with royal Farseer blood, he has retreated to an isolated cottage far from the intrigues and dangers of the capital. Now he believes himself content to exist in obscurity, raising his adopted son, Hap, and sharing his solitude with his faithful wolf bondmate, Nighteyes.
Despite the rumors he hears of savage reprisals against those posssessing the Wit magic, he is determined to remain aloof from the conflict. After all he has served his kingdom, sacrificed what was dearest to him, and he deserves his peace.
But all that is about to change when destiny comes seeking him once again. High summer brings visitors to his door, and with them his past. Jinna, a hedge-witch, foresees that a long-lost love will return to him. Chade ? court assassin and Fitz?s mentor from his own assassin days, now growing infirm ? has reasons of his own for desiring Fitz to return to Buckkeep Castle.
And when the Fool, the former White Prophet, reappears as the wealthy and charming Lord Golden, he beckons Fitz to take up his duties as Catalyst, the one who enables others to be heroes and change forever the path of time.
To all of them Fitz says no. He has done his duty ? more than one man should be expected to do. But then comes the summons he cannot ignore.
Prince Dutiful, the young heir to the Farseer throne, has vanished from Buckkeep Castle without a trace. Whether Dutiful has been kidnapped or has fled his impending arranged betrothal is unclear. What is clear is that the Prince is rumored to be Witted at a time when public superstition is running high against those possessing that ?beast magic.?
Endowed with both the royal Skill magic and the despised Wit, FitzChivalry may be the only one who can retrieve the Prince before his betrothal ceremony ? thus sparing the Six Duchies profound political embarrassment … or worse.
But even Fitz does not suspect the web of treachery that awaits him. Everyone seems to have an agenda for the young Prince, and soon FitzChivalry is plunged into a situation where his loyalties to his Queen, his Wit partner Nighteyes, and those who share his magic will be tested to the breaking point.
Golden Fool (Book 2)
Prince Dutiful has been rescued from his Piebald kidnappers and the court has resumed its normal rhythms. But for FitzChivalry Farseer, a return to isolation is impossible. Though gutted by the loss of his wolf bondmate, Nighteyes, Fitz must take up residence at Buckkeep and resume his tasks as Chade’s apprentice assassin. Posing as Tom Badgerlock, bodyguard to Lord Golden, FitzChivalry becomes the eyes and ears behind the walls. And with his old mentor failing visibly, Fitz is forced to take on more burdens as he attempts to guide a kingdom straying closer to civil strife each day.
The problems are legion. Prince Dutiful’s betrothal to the Narcheska Elliania of the Out Islands is fraught with tension, and the Narcheska herself appears to be hiding an array of secrets. Then, amid Piebald threats and the increasing persecution of the Witted, FitzChivalry must ensure that no one betrays the Prince’s secret—a secret that could topple the Farseer throne: that he, like Fitz, possesses the dread “beast magic.”
Meanwhile, FitzChivalry must impart to the Prince his limited knowledge of the Skill: the hereditary and addictive magic of the Farseers. In the process, they discover within Buckkeep one who has a wild and powerful talent for it, and whose enmity for Fitz may have disastrous consequences for all.
Only Fitz’s enduring friendship with the Fool brings him any solace. But even that is shattered when unexpected visitors from Bingtown reveal devastating secrets from the Fool’s past. Now, bereft of support and adrift in intrigue, Fitz’s biggest challenge may be simply to survive the inescapable and violent path that fate has laid out for him.
Fool’s Fate (Book 3)
A heralded writer of epic fantasy, Robin Hobb has given readers worlds within worlds in her heroic Farseer and Liveship Traders trilogies. Now she takes the final step in the breathtaking trilogy of the Tawny Man, as the tale of FitzChivalry Farseer comes to an epic end. Rife with boundless adventure and unforgettable characters, Fool’s Fate is destined to become a classic of the genre.
Assassin, spy, and Skillmaster, FitzChivalry Farseer, now known only as man-at-arms Tom Badgerlock, has become firmly ensconced in the queen’s court at Buckkeep. Only a few are aware of his fabled, tangled past—and the sacrifices he made to survive it. And fewer know of his possession of the Skill magic. With Prince
Dutiful, his assassin-mentor Chade, and the simpleminded yet strongly Skilled Thick, FitzChivalry strives to aid the prince on a quest that could ultimately secure peace between the Six Duchies and the Outislands—and win Dutiful the hand of the Narcheska Elliania.
For the Narcheska has set the prince on an unfathomable task: to behead a dragon trapped in ice—the legendary Icefyre, on the island of Aslevjal. Yet not all the clans of the Outislands support the prince’s effort to behead their
legendary defender. Are there darker forces at work behind the Narcheska’s imperious demand? As the prince and his coterie set sail, FitzChivalry works behind the scenes, playing nursemaid to the ailing Thick, while striving to strengthen their Skill—ultimately bringing his unacknowledged daughter into the web of the Skill magic, where the truth must finally unfold.
The quest emerges amid riddles that must be unraveled, a clash of cultures, and the ultimate betrayal. For knowing that the Fool has foretold he will die on the island of ice, FitzChivalry has plotted with Chade to leave his dearest friend behind. But fate cannot so easily be defied.
The Liveship Traders Trilogy by Robin Hobb
Posted by: | CommentsThe Liveship Traders Trilogy by Robin Hobb bridges the time gap between The Farseer Trilogy and The Tawny Man Trilogy. As far as the story line goes this one is separate from the Farseer and the Tawny Man, however it does feature the Fool in a rather delightful role although it is minor. Unlike in the Farseer trilogy, Hobb narrates multiple view points in the Liveship Traders trilogy and the pace of the book picks up much faster than in the previous trilogy.
Ship of Magic (Book 1)
Bingtown is a hub of exotic trade and home to a merchant nobility famed for its liveships–rare vessels carved from wizardwood, which ripens magically into sentient awareness. The fortunes of one of Bingtown’s oldest families rest on the newly awakened liveship Vivacia.
For Althea Vestrit, the ship is her rightful legacy unjustly denied her–a legacy she will risk anything to reclaim. For Althea’s young nephew Wintrow, wrenched from his religious studies and forced to serve aboard ship, Vivacia is a life sentence.
But the fate of the Vestrit family–and the ship–may ultimately lie in the hands of an outsider. The ruthless pirate Kennit seeks a way to seize power over all the denizens of the Pirate Isles…and the first step of his plan requires him to capture his own liveship and bend it to his will….
Mad Ship (Book 2)
