Secret Circle S1 Ep4 Moves Forward

Well things just got very hot and heavy this week with Secret Circle. Chance Harbor is kinda a creepy place, but then we knew that. Ever since Zach told Cassie the big bad secret about her mom, Cassie has been on a crusade to learn the truth. Well, heck! If some guy told me that my mom was a witch, I would want to know just what he meant too!

So Cassie is of on anther adventure, with Adam along (What, for good luck?) to find out what Zach is talking about regarding his sister Heather. Of course, no sooner do they show up at Heather’s bro’s shack then –Bam- we find Heather. Seems she has been sitting in this chair for 16 years, and no one thought to look in her brother’s shack until Cassie. Can you blame Cassie and Adam for booting it outta there when Heather suddenly comes out of it and lunges at them? Lucky for them that Cassie has that Book of Shadows to tell her that the mark on Heather is some kind of spell to control Heather. So now Cassie has a way to control Heather and find out more about her mom.

Okay – this is where I begin to feel like the writers are just trying to shove way too much into one episode. If that was all that happened, I would have felt good episode. The whole rest of the show was just Cassie showing us she is not happy with blood and needles (like- who is?) and the revelation that Cassie has actually accidentally released a demon could have been done any other way. So we introduce the character of Heather, make her possessed, she tells Cassie pretty much nothing and then WAM is hit by a car and is dead. They could not have found another way to introduce this demon to Mellissa?

All in all, it was an okay episode but I felt that they need to find a way to create characters we care about if they are going to kill them off. So if you introduce a new character that has links to Cassie’s mom, why not have her around for a few episodes, have us care one way or the other about her, and then kill her off? Is this bugging anyone else? No probs with the rest of the show, but this really is annoying to me and just plain lazy writing.
