It’s BAACK! True Blood Season 3 Episode 1: Pack of Wolves

I’m so excited! Tonight’s episode of True Blood Season 3, Episode 1 was AWESOME!
To recap the cliff hanger from last season: Sookie and Bill are sharing a romantic dinner together when Bill pops the question and asks Sookie to marry him. Sookie is flustered and goes to the bathroom to calm down. While there she decides to tell Bill yes, she’ll marry him. Sookie returns to their table only to find Bill gone! Bill has been kidnapped by someone in black gloves with a silver chain.
So, without further ado here are the Top 10 Highlights from True Blood Episode 1: Pack of Wolves
#10 - Bill is kidnapped by “The Fuck You Crew” (their words, not mine) who hold him captive in the back seat of a car (by binding him in silver chains) while drinking his blood. But they’re a bunch of amateurs and Bill eventually escapes.
#9 - Baby Vamp Jessica mistakenly kills a man. She apparently bit him a bit too deeply. She’s pretty distraught over this and decides to turn him. Doesn’t look like it worked but you never know.
#8 - Jason has a “hard” time dealing with his murder of Eggs, Tara’s boyfriend. Although he’s a serious horn dog he’s unable to perform when he picks up two women at Merlotte’s bar.
#7 - Sam is still trying to find clues to his past.
#6 - Ah ha! We learn that Eric is behind Bill’s kidnapping. He was concerned about Bill’s ability to link the Queen of Louisiana with the selling of vampire blood to humans.
#5 - Poor Tara. She’s so distraught over Eggs that she tries to kill herself.
#4 - Bill, still weak from being kidnapped and bound in silver, enters the home of an ill elderly lady. He’s apparently overcome with hunger because he decides to attack her, something totally against Bill’s nature. Fortunately, he doesn’t hurt her and erases her memory after feeding from her. He even gives her some money, telling her that it’s from her son.
#3 - Sam dreams that BILL MAKES A PASS AT HIM! And in Sam’s dream, he’s TOTALLY interested in kissing Bill full on the mouth! Say what? My mouth was open in awe the entire time.
#2 - Eric has a NIICE butt! Tonight we saw Eric’s fully naked backside! Yikes he looks good!
#1 - Bill, on his way back to Bon Temps, is surrounded by a pack of werewolves! The episode ends with him baring his fangs at them.
And here are the Three Funniest Lines from True Blood Episode 1 – Pack of Wolves:
1. Eric, on being interrupted from having sex with his new Fangtasia dancer says: “Sookie, meet Yvetta, from Estonia. Yvetta, meet Sookie, from here.”
Jason, when Hoyt expresses concern about picking up two women, says: “If you and I are going to be roommates there’s a certain amount of pussy overflow you’ll have to deal with.”
Pam, upon entering Sookie’s completely trashed home said: “Now why’d you have to go and kill that maenad – she’s a terrific decorator.”
Question for viewers: What Was Your Favorite Scene From Episode 1?

I find it sad that women (girls) constantly talk about Bill, Eric, Jason, etc. but never once do you hear them talk about Hoyt, who has been a pure gentleman and “presumably”, every woman’s dream man – thus far anyway. It’s like a small microcosm of the way society is these days though. Women don’t want the nice guy…even if he isn’t bad looking. They want the “bad”, dark, mysterious, troublesome guy they’re not really sure about.
And in other news – the 51% divorce rate these days continues to rise. People with common sense don’t seem to be surprised.
Axl:
That’s a great point you make. I think Hoyt is one of the sweetest, most sincere characters in the show – no hidden agendas there. And as we saw last night, even though he thought his relationship with Jessica was on the outs, he still didn’t cheat on her.
Hmmn, Team Hoyt anyone?
I agree with you as well Axl. He is an overlooked hottie in the show but the issue with why most of the women fan base dont look at him as one of the “Sex symbols” is he has no confidence. Hes very nice and will treat you like a queen but he has no grrr. Even a nice guy needs to have a little of that.
A man could be a nerd in glasses whos skin and bones but if he shows confidence as well as a gentlemanly persona he can have almost any girl.
To reply to the question…
My favorite scene of the episode was when Sookie barged in on Eric having sex and Pam was following her down the stairs. She said in a very sarcastic monotone voice “No, Sookie dont go down there”. I thought that was so funny. She wanted her to be so disturbed by the sex but she had to say it so she would get in trouble. I loved it.
I enjoy how Pam toys with people. She is one of the best side secondary characters in the show. An she compliments Eric’s character very well.
Mia, confidence is a very good point to bring up…but one must ask themselves…assuming you had to choose – would you rather have a pure gentleman who treats you better than anybody else in the world or somebody who doesn’t come close but has confidence.
Sure, “why do I have to choose?” comes up…but in most circumstances – the guy has confidence in the first place for a reason. A lot of the time that confidence is abused and used to be unfaithful (for a number of reasons which ironically may include self-esteem or insecurity issues).
Same goes for women. When I was younger I was all about the “hot” confident women…dating them and playing the game. But, strangely enough…they all started up and ended in similar fashions. It was like Groundhog Day over and over. Finally, I met somebody who certainly still is beautiful…but is less in your face with it…and more genuine and considerate. And to me, that’s what it’s all about. Sadly, I’m in the minority in this country.
I think the weirdest scene was the Sam Merlotte dream sequence where he has a sexual encounter with Bill. While I understand WHY it happened (as it happened with Sookie towards Bill and Eric as well as others), it still kind of bothered me a little bit. I’m not a homophobe by any means…people are welcome to do what they want to do…but I just think it was a tad unnecessary overall. So far anyway. Although I can’t see where they would go any further with that as of right now.
Axl:
I agree with your comments about the weird “Sam dreaming about Bill” sequence. Not sure where they’re going with this but since Alan Ball is the man calling the shots, the scene will eventually be explained. Something as startling as that scene was probably put in for a reason. We just don’t know what it is at this point . . . .
I was becoming very annoyed last season w/ MaryAnn’s story dragging through out the whole season.I am so excited that this season ( true to Ball’s statement) is looking to be the best yet!
Ball and C.H. have both stated in the past that a couple of actors look just like they imagined when reading/writing the books. I feel that way over Frankin Mott, the guy whom is playing him looks just like I imagined him looking!
In response to Hoyt I think he is just as cute as Bill,Eric and Jason in his own way.None however ‘do it’ for me…if they ever bring Quinn on..YUM! Don’t know who they would get for that character though..
To correct #6: Eric originally did send other vampires to kidnap Bill, however if you listen very closely to his phone conversation with whomever he was speaking with, you will notice that they told him that when they had gotten to the resturaunt the police were already there. So at that time, Bill was already gone. In addition, Eric also advised the caller that he didn’t care what it took, to even find a DAYWALKER to help find him for them. The guys that did kidnap Bill were weres- so looks like someone else beat Eric and his guys to the punch. (I had to watch it twice to notice this…)
Thanks for the clarification Heather! I plan to watch the episode again so I’ll be sure to listen closely during this scene.
And no, I’m not watching the show again so I can check out Eric’s butt. Noo . . . absolutely not.
