Is Lafayette Dead? Identify That Foot!
In the last episode of True Blood Sookie, Andy Bellefleur, and Tara discover a dead body in the back seat of Andy’s car, parked outside Merlotte’s. We, the audience, only see one dead foot. An African-American foot. With red nail polish. There are only 3 possible candidates: Lafayette, Tara’s mother, and Miss Jeanette (the phony witch doctor). Let’s look at the evidence:

Let’s look at Exhibit B:
Remember when Lafayette was painting his toenails while off duty at Merlotte’s? There’s clearly a reason why this scene is important. I believe Alan Ball, the director and creator of such hits like Six Feet Under, deliberately showed this scene to throw us off. My proof? Read the following excerpt from recent article in TV Guide:
“Since the season premiere picks up right where we left off, the victim’s identity is revealed in short order. As you might have already guessed, Season 2’s first casualty is related to Tara, but not in a way that you will guess. At first blush, the significance of said death will not be apparent, but just wait! Also, a minor character’s drinking problem will resurface — hilariously.”
Does that sound like Lafayette? I think NOT!
If I put on my CSI hat and examine the two feet side-by-side I believe Lafayette’s toes (Exhibit B) are shaped differently from those of the dead person’s.
My conclusion: LAFAYETTE IS NOT DEAD! THE FOOT BELONGS TO TARA’S MOTHER. OR MISS JEANETTE.
Reason for killing Tara’s mother: it allows Maryanne Forrester to remove all of Tara’s family ties.
Reason for killing Miss Jeanette: it may serve to knock Tara’s mother off the wagon since she believed that the witch doctor cured her alcoholism. If Miss Jeanette dies and Tara’s mother starts drinking again Tara will probably distance herself from her – remember she’s still mad that her mother didn’t bail her out of jail.
Bottom line: the dead person in the car is somehow tied to Maryanne Forrester, who has a dark hidden agenda.
But that’s just my opinion. Tell me what you think.

If you have read the books you would know that it is Lafayette who is dead in the back of the car.
I’ve read the books but True Blood strayed quite a bit from the books during the first season. I wouldn’t be surprised if they let him live . . .
Very true, they changed a lot. but, watching the show it kinda seems like would be Lafayette, but i guess we will just have to find out soon.
also, it’s obvious without reading the books because it showed that Lafayette was about to get attacked and how bill “fed”.
Lafayette is such a hugely popular character on the series that Alan Ball may have made a switch from the books. I know that in the books the person in the car is Lafayette, but maybe on the show Andy will end up with more than one dead person’s foot falling out of his car…

Let’s hope so. In my opinion it all boils down to which storyline HBO thinks will attract the most viewers: killing off Lafayette or letting his colorful and sassy character live on. I vote for letting him live!

Lafayette is only in 12 episodes therefore, the fist season.
It says he is in 12 OTHERS!!!
It also says he is in the 1st 5 episodes of season 2.
Also, ive watched season 2 [as im sure you have to] and as you can see he is not dead, but at the end of the last ep. [ep 2] he was about to get eaten by erick and pam so…
But it says he is in the 1st 5 episodes, so he he may come back as a vamp, coz he did ask to be turned into one.
dude i havent read the books yet but what if its not a dead body in the back of the car?? its just a foot.. maybe i just dont want to belive that lafayette could be dead, i dont know but there are other possibilities other than a dead body!
Aaahh . . . Perhaps Lafayette is badly injured . . . but where’s he been all this time? On the show Lafayette had been missing for a few days.

I have read almost all of the books and in the 2nd book at the begining sookie and andy find lafayette dead in the back of andy’s car. Also if any of you have been watching the “sneak previews” and trailers notice how lafayette isn’t in any of them! I am almost positive he is the one that dies!!
Exactly. i’ve watched all the sneak previews and the overview of the first season with Alan Ball and he hinted big time that he was dead.

I knew it was Miss Jeanette!!! I called it at the end of last season!! I’m still trying to figure out what the crazy maryanne is in the show for!! i have obviously got to read these books!!! i love the show! And Bill didn’t feed on Lafayette…it was someone else, I’m sure!
