Hot Fantasy Book – Succubus Heat by Richelle Mead

It’s hard out there for single women trying to juggle a career and a love life. Harder still? Being unable to consummate your relationship because you may end up sucking all the life out of your loved one. That’s the situation we find Georgina Kincaid in at the start of Succubus Heat by Richelle Mead.

As an urban succubus living in downtown Seattle, she’s got the life. Dating a hotshot author, working in a bookstore and having her way with mortal souls at night, Georgina is living the life of a cosmopolitan woman. But when Seth Mortensen suddenly dumps her on her succubus ass, Georgina loses it and begins sucking souls way above her quota.

Her bad behavior won’t be tolerated, and soon she finds herself packed off to Vancouver by her boss, Jerome, to help out with a little cult problem that’s been brewing north of the border. While Georgina’s trying to figure out how to find the leader of the cult and close it down so she can head back to Seattle to monitor Seth and his new girlfriend, some of her fellow creatures begin mysteriously disappearing.

When Jerome himself becomes one of the missing, Georgina’s powers go out the door as well. Now she’s worried she might actually be (the horror!) M-O-R-T-A-L. But there one upside to her new condition: she can finally do the deed with Seth. That is, if she can first figure out how to get rid of his current girlfriend.

On top of that a power struggle among the remaining demons ensues over Jerome’s now empty seat, and Georgina has to rescue him before things go from bad to worse. Losing all the important things in her life might be enough to get most people down, but like a good succubus, Georgina stays true and focuses on her mission to save her topsy-turvy world.

Fantasy book fans will love learning about the challenges facing the modern day succubus. This addition to the Georgina Kincaid series masterfully blends adventure, romance and suspense and sets it in a dazzling urban setting. I anxiously await the next installments in the series.
