Highlights From You Win Or You Die – Game Of Thrones Ep7
Here’s what happened tonight in Game Of Thrones Episode 7: You Win Or You Die:
Lord Ned Stark confronts Queen Cersei about the death of his predecessor, Jon Arryn. He also tells the Queen that he knows that his youngest son Bran must have seen her in flgranti with her brother. She explains that she once worshiped her husband but that the King couldn’t get over his love for his first wife. She said “your sister was a corpse and I was a living girl yet he loved her more than me.” Ned orders her to gather her family and leave King’s Landing.
King Robert is seriously gored by a boar while hunting. Knowing he’s dying he has everyone leave his bedside except Lord Stark and signs a statement in which he names Stark as Lord Regent and Protector Of The Realm until his son Joffrey comes of age. He asks Stark to help Prince Joffrey after he’s gone. He also rescinds his order to have Daenerys assassinated.
Ser Jorah, former knight to King Aerys, receives a pardon from King Robert, allowing him to return home. While pondering this news he witnesses a winemaker give Daenerys a “special” cask of wine. Suspecting that mischief might be afoot he asks the winemaker to taste the wine – the winemaker then attempts to run away but he’s captured.
Jon Snow learns that he won’t be accepted as a Night’s Watch ranger. Instead, he’s assigned to the builder’s group. This is a big slap in the face for Snow because he knows he’s a good swordsman but he also knows that Alliser Thorne was responsible for this insult. His new buddy, the not very brave Samwell Tarley, tells him to use his new position to his advantage. He explains that by working closely with Maester Aemon, Snow will have the 411 on everything that’s going on.
Littlefinger recounts how he fought a duel with Brandon Stark (Lord Stark’s older brother) for the hand of Catelyn Stark (who was Catelyn Tully at the time). He lost the duel but although Brandon died, Catelyn didn’t choose him. Instead, she chose Ned.
Khal Drogo, the barbaric (and REALLY sexy) leader of the Dothraki gets ANGRY once he learns of the attempt to kill his pregnant wife Daenerys. He vows to conquer “the Iron Throne that his mother’s father sat upon.” He says “I will kill the men in the iron suits.” Alright!
Although King Robert wanted Lord Stark to rule upon his death, Queen Cersei put her son Joffrey on the throne. When Stark presents the King’s written statement to the Queen, she tears up the document. She tells him to bow before the new King. When he refuses, swords are drawn but Stark asks that there be no bloodshed. However, his loyal men are attacked and surprise, surprise, not all of his men are actually on his side. The series ends with Littlefinger holding a knife to Stark’s throat stating “I told you not to trust me.”
Can’t wait for the next episode!
