Daphne, You’re a Pig – More True Blood Mystery

Daphne is a Pig on True Blood

In True Blood Episode 6 (Hard-Hearted Hannah) we finally learn that Daphne has been wooing Sam as part of a plan to entrap him for Maryann Forrester. Here are the clues that led up to the discovery:

-Daphne seems to appear out of nowhere looking for a waitressing job at Sam’s bar.

-She’s an absolutely horrible waitress.

-Daphne has a scratch on her back that looks just like the one Sookie got when she was attacked in the woods. When asked about it she said “I don’t know what attacked me. I was sick for weeks and weeks.” Now, get real. Sookie almost died when she got scratched on her back like that.

-Daphne is a shifter who likes to take the form of a pig.

At the end of episode 6 we see Daphne leading Sam to the orgy taking place in Sookie’s back yard. It’s like old home week at the orgy – everyone’s there: Tara, Eggs, Andy Bellefleur, Terry Bellefleur, and Arlene. Maryann turns to Sam and walks toward him with the head of a bull in her hands.

Questions
1. What is Maryann planning to do with the bull’s head?

2. Does Maryann have the power to wipe the memories of humans? It looks like people forget that they’ve attended her orgies. Case in point: Eggs has apparently attended one of them in the past – that’s why he led Tara to that clearing in the woods. Notice that the rocks in the clearing were formed into a circle, just like the orgy circle we saw in Sookie’s backyard.

3. Did you notice the dagger that Maryann had? Eggs and Tara found blood on a rock in the clearing they found. Can you say human sacrifice?

4. Did anyone figure out that Daphne was evil BEFORE the last scene in episode 6? If so, what made you think she was bad?

This show just gets better and better . . . .

There was suspicion that Carl was going to turn out to be the pig. Do you think Daphne was an “offering” from earlier that she put in her employ? That would explain the claw mark and why she recovered from it, Maryanne probably is the only one who knows truly how to counteract the poison. I guess Carl ends up being the lowly priest of a very small cult? And why didn’t Tara & Eggs freakin turn and run their butts in the other direction?

One more thing… I hate that almost everyone in Bon Temps are so weak-willed that they can be culled by someone like Maryanne. Who’s left to save Sam? Everyone is either in Dallas or part of the orgy… o wait no, Lafayette!!!! Grab your red cape and garters and get your hooker rear over to Sookie’s quick!

    • Bella Sophia says:

In a preview Lafayette tries to save Tara, and I read somewhere that her mother was also involved. We also see Sam and Daphne talking about Maryanne in that preview. I can’t wait to see how he gets away… and why the F is he still talking to Daphne like she didn’t help kidnap him! WTF. I knew as soon as Daphne said “I know what you are” to Sam, that she was somehow involved with Maryanne, and possibly the pig, which we now know is true. Interesting comment about Carl being the priest. I didn’t consider that. Can’t wait til next Sunday!

      • Chandler says:

I 100% agree. Why IS Sam still talking to Daphne? And I’ve also seen in another preview MaryAnn running around with the bulls mask on and the claws, obviously chasing Sam. Then Sam turns into a bird and fly’s away…

        We will see next week.

        ****SPOILER ALERT!****

In the book, the vamps, the people of Bon Temps (not including Lafayette, who is really supposed to be dead,) and Tara team up to take down MaryAnn.

        • Chrissy says:

What book did you read? The vamps didn’t ‘take her down’ she left on her own accord. If she had felt like it she would have stayed. And Tara was hiding under a table the entire time the Maenad was at the orgy at the cabin. Tara was there but she sure wasn’t taking anyone down.

        • Bella Sophia says:

I’ve been wondering what the heck Maryann was looking up at. I didn’t realize Sam turned into a bird, but obviously that would make since. Shape shifter needing to get away. Just must have not noticed it! CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL TONIGHT!

Im sure I am just missing the comments, but has anyone even mention how true blood is almost a separated story than the Sookie series., Im am the only one in my house hold that has read the books, but everyone is watching the series…. So i have no one that understands what I mean.

    • FantasyGirl says:

      Shawn:

I absolutely know what you mean. You can read the books and it won’t spoil ANYTHING. Why? Because the series is VERY different from the books.

Actually, I’m re-reading the books because they’re so great and I know it won’t spoil anything for me!

    Hello
I’m new here but would like to make a couple of observations.
The night Sookie is attacked, in the distance you see a half human half bull creature. He is tall has a muscular upper body. His shoulders wider than his hips
( Male ) After the attack they show his wrists and hands up close. His skin is dark brown like Egg’s. His hands are human with five fingers. His nails are very long and curled up, they look like the claws ( talons ) of an eagle.
At Tara’s party Maryanne is standing by a tree vibrating. She bends down at the waist and she is digging. It appears she pulls something up from the earth. It was shaped kind of like a baby but when she lifts her arms she is holding nothing. Her hands are white not brown and she has 3 fingers that are fat ( clubbed ) and she has claws but they are much shorter than the beast’s who attacked Sookie.

When Tara tells Maryanne she can’t stay at Sookie’s she goes into the living room with Eggs. Eggs tells Tara ” I’m not Maryanne’s dog if that’s what you mean.
Than he says ” when I lay dying she lifted me up ” or something like that.

When Eggs and Tara go for the water heater pump, they get out and walk
because Egg’s instincts tell him he’s been there before. They come to this place where there are large stones, they find a ripped shirt and some blood.
I think Maryanne used the sword/ large knife to injure Eggs ( the one they pull out after taking Sam there ) I think that is his shirt they find and the blood on the stone is probably his.
I think Maryanne transformed Eggs into a beast. I think Maryanne is the power.
I think they do want Tara to have a baby.

I have cox cable on demand and I watched the scene where Sookie is clawed in the back for a better look at the creature. When they showed the creature, I paused it and no, your observation of the form is incorrect. It is tall and slender with 3 fingers pale, thick, fingers and claws. The shoulders are broad and wider set than the hips but if you’ll look closely, that is how Maryann is shaped. I hope this helps!;)

  4. Muf says:

Anyone who’s watched a little tv could tell that Daphne was led by darkness. In the fantasy inside the fantasy in my head I have the ” other dog ” come at the last minute and challenge Maryanne breaking her spell, if only temporarily, on the orgy. Daphne is also separated from the spell and she shifts to a doe but is wounded and can’t walk. Sam carries her off to safety…

Before leaving the house to find the orgy Tara says, ” People are pigs “. A cute line?

  5. Shelly-Bean says:

This episde explained ALOT. So much is clearer now, it’s all coming together!!!

  6. True blood is 10 times better than Twilight.
