Posted by: | Commentspre-order the book!
Here’s the book description from the Amazon UK site:
“If you think your family relationships are complicated, think again: you haven’t seen anything like the ones in Bon Temps, Louisiana. Sookie Stackhouse is dealing with a whole host of family problems, ranging from her own kin (a non-human fairy and a telepathic second cousin) demanding a place in her life, to her lover Eric’s vampire sire, an ancient being who arrives with Eric’s ‘brother’ in tow at a most inopportune moment. And Sookie’s tracking down a distant relation of her ailing neighbour (and ex), Vampire Bill Compton. In addition to the multitude of family issues complicating her life, the werewolf pack of Shreveport has asked Sookie for a special favour, and since Sookie is an obliging young woman, she agrees. But this favour for the wolves has dire results for Sookie, who is still recovering from the trauma of her abduction during the Fairy War.”
It hits the streets on May 4th but if you pre-order it you’ll get it delivered right to your door as soon as it’s available!
Also, if you pre-order it you get the book at a discount!

True Blood Mystery - Who Kidnapped Bill?
Posted by: | Comments
So, who do you think kidnapped Bill in the season finale of True Blood Season 2?
If you’ll remember, Sookie and Bill were enjoying a romantic dinner alone. Bill had gone to the trouble of renting out an entire restaurant for the event. Bill is such the Southern gentleman isn’t he?
Bill and Sookie have a wonderful time together. He looks fantastic in his tuxedo and Sookie looks gorgeous in a lilac dress that he bought for her (didn’t she look great?).
And then the big moment occurs: Bill proposes to Sookie and gives her a ring.
She’s shocked of course (as are we) and doesn’t immediately give him an answer. Instead she excuses herself and goes to the ladies room. While there she ponders his proposal and looks lovingly at the ring. She then makes up her mind - she’s going to accept!
She bounces out of the ladies room only to find Bill gone. Vanished. As if he’s disappeared into thin air.
But we know different. We saw that a silver chain had been wrapped around his neck from behind and that he’d been forcefully pulled away.
So, WHO DUN IT?
The Likely Suspects
- Eric: throughout True Blood Season 2 Eric appears to resent the relationship between Bill and Sookie. He makes a pledge to the Queen of Louisiana to “get Bill” for her. Which leads me to the next suspect.
- Queen Sophie: I’m not sure what the Queen has against Bill. Perhaps she’s annoyed that he’s not big on toying with humans like she is. Perhaps she’s pissed off because he didn’t bow and scrape in front of her. Not sure what’s going on with her but she may very well have had a hand in his abduction. Perhaps she and Eric are working together?
I personally think both Eric and Queen Sophie are too obvious and probably aren’t directly responsible. If you’re a True Blood fan you know that Alan Ball doesn’t do obvious. He’s always full of surprises. Therefore, I’m going to suggest something else.
Other Potential Kidnappers
- Lafayette: yes, it’s perhaps a stretch but I wonder if Lafayette does this at Eric’s command. Think about it, would Eric himself kidnap Bill? No, he’d have someone else do his dirty work for him. If Lafayette kidnapped Bill it would create a different angle on the relationship between he and Sookie. It would also provide Eric with a steady source of V which he’s forcing Lafayette to sell. He could slowly drain Bill until he dies. Or at least, that would be the plan.
- Leona: when we last saw Leona she was shunned by Bill. I was a bit surprised at that since she’s Bill’s maker. I wouldn’t think he’d be powerful enough to do that. Also, if you’ve read the books you know that Leona plays a significant role in Bill and Sookie’s relationship. I won’t say more in case you haven’t read Book 3, Club Dead.
- Tara: Tara was pretty devastated when Eggs was killed in the True Blood finale. Could Tara be jealous of Sookie and Bill’s relationship? I think this one’s a pretty big stretch but I thought I’d throw it in for giggles. Also, I’m not totally convinced that we’ve seen the last of Maryann’s influence. I wouldn’t be surprised if maenads aren’t somehow reincarnated in some way.
- The Fellowship of the Sun: if I’ve said it once I’ve said it 10 times: the vampires should have taken out Steve Newlin and Sarah Big Hair when they had the chance. The Fellowship of the Sun won’t stop simply because the vampires were merciful. Case in point, even though the vampires let members of the group live they still booby-trapped one of their followers (sorry, I can’t seem to remember his name) and sent him on a suicide bomber mission. By the way, isn’t booby-trapped one of the funniest words around? When I think of that word I envision some big breasted female villain from a bad 70’s B-movie who has some poor guy trapped between her . . . oops, sorry - I digress. Nonetheless, I think it’s highly likely that they’re responsible for kidnapping Bill.
So what do YOU think? Who do you think kidnapped Bill?
True Blood Episode 12 Finale - Beyond Here Lies Nothin’

For those of you in the contest that predicted Maryann would die…Yahtzee! But did Eggs? I guess we will find out in June.
At least one egg-nigma was solved. Sookie had a great line when she asked, “What is up with the egg? Did you lay it?” Ostrich egg. All-righty, then.
Another question answered, “How do you kill a maenad?” To quote a line from a classic 80’s movie, The Breakfast Club, “You mess with the bull, you get the horns.” I was glad that Maryann’s god finally came, even if it was really Sam parading around as a Brahma bull. She’d waited long enough. The ceremony was lovely. At so many weddings the bridesmaid’s dresses are just hideous, but I have to say, Lafayette looked fantastic. Kudos to Sam and Bill for joining forces to save the woman they both love, and the town of Bon Temps, too.
Tonight’s episode sure went to Team Bill. He definitely upped his boyfriend game tonight. He saved his girl, and her town. He finally took her out for a decent date (not to mention popping the question), and what does he get for his trouble? Well, we are not sure what he’s getting, are we? Is Eric “personally taking care of him?” Or perhaps he’s been taken by Lorena?
Other puzzles to ponder between now and June 2010:
-Will Hoyte and Jessica reunite?
-Will Eggs survive being shot by Jason?
-Will anyone find out that Jason shot Eggs instead of Andy?
-Will Sam find his family? Will he like them if he does or are they really bad people?
-Why is the Queen having Eric and Lafayette sell V?
-Why does Sookie’s cousin Handley dress like Ellie Mae from the Beverly Hillbillies?
-Will we get to see Eric naked? (That last one is personal, sorry.)
I suppose if we want the answers to these questions, we’ll have to wait. Same vamp time, same vamp channel, entirely different year! (That’s an old Batman TV reference. BTW, when did vamps stop turning into bats?)

True Blood Finale Prediction Contest!

In honor of the True Blood Season 2 finale we’re giving away one of these cool prizes:
-the ENTIRE Sookie Stackhouse Box Set!
-a $30 Amazon gift card!
We spent hours creating charts and graphs, developing complex statistics and conducting in-depth analyses on the best way to conduct the contest. It was hard work and required mass consumptions of Cheetos and Starbucks mocha frappuccinos but we finally decided on a strategy. Are you ready?
TO ENTER THE CONTEST YOU MUST ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION:
“Name one person that will be killed in the season finale of True Blood Season 2″
That’s right, just answer this question and you’re in the contest. Oh, and tell us which prize you prefer (either the books or the gift card) when you enter.
The contest is open to U.S. residents. Only one entry per person please (IP addresses will be checked).
The contest will be open until September 13th at 9:00pm EST, the time that the finale airs. At that point we’ll accept no more comments. After the show airs we’ll take all of the correct answers and use the random integer software to determine a winner.
The lucky winner will be chosen shortly after midnight. The winner will be announced at the site and then promptly notified via email.
Remember, just give the name of the one person that you think will be killed during the season finale. Good luck!
And thanks to Yankee Blood, VBooker and Kitty Kat for “nudging” us in the True Blood Rehab Lounge about holding a contest!

How Do You Kill A Maenad?
Posted by: | Comments
So, it looks like Sookie, Bill, Eric, Jason and Andy Bellefleur may all play a part getting rid of the black evil that is known as Maryann Forrester.
So how do you kill a maenad? How do you kill something that’s immortal?
Perhaps Sophie Anne, the Queen of Louisiana, gave us some clues in the last episode. Here’s what she said when Bill asked her about maenads. Note: these are the actual transcripts. I watched these scenes several times in order to transcribe them. You can thank me later:
Bill: “So how do I kill it?”
Queen: “You can’t. She’s convinced herself she’s immortal and so she is.”
Bill looks puzzled.
Queen: “Well I’m sure you know that everything that exists imagined itself into existence.”
Queen Sophie Anne goes on to say:
Queen: “So, you’re f*-ing everything in the dirt - why not kill something and eat it raw? Hey you’re super extra pious, there’s nothing you can’t do. And each time you do it brings you one step closer to the divine.”
Bill: “Isn’t that delusional?”
Queen: “Never underestimate the power of blind faith. It can manifest itself in ways that bend the laws of physics, or break them entirely.”
Bill: “I bit her, and it poisoned me.”
Queen: “Of course it did. We can only drink the blood of humans and she’s no longer remotely human.”
Bill: “But she started out human?”
Queen: “Helloo, evolution? We started out that way too.”
And in the next scene:
Queen: “Maenads are sad silly things. The world changed centuries ago and they’re still waiting for the god who comes.”
Bill: “Does he ever come?”
Queen: “Of course not. Gods never actually show up. They only exist in human’s minds, like money and morality.”
Bill: “If I can’t kill her how do I get her to leave Bon Temps?”
Queen: “She has to believe that she’s successfully summoned forth Dionysus. In hopes that he will ravage her - quite literally devour her. Until she’s lost into oblivion.”
Bill: “So she seeks death, the true death. The one thing she’s evolved beyond.”
Queen: “Ironic isn’t it? You know they’re really not that smart, these maenads.”
Bill: “So how does she summon this non-existent god of hers?”
Queen: “I never said he was non-existent. I just said he never comes. She believes if she finds the perfect vessel, sacrifices and devours part of him, or her, while surrounded by the magic of her familiars, then her mad god will appear. And at that point when she willingly surrenders herself to him - “
Bill: “That’s the only point she can be killed!”
Queen: Smirks. “Who’s the smartest boy in class?”
Bill: “The perfect vessel, um, human?”
Queen: “They prefer supernatural beings.”
Bill: In awe. “The two-natured!”
Queen: Shifter, yes. And weres. Fortunately they show little interest in us. Something about our hearts not beating. But will try other being that straddles the two worlds.”
Bill: “As long as it has a beating heart.”
Queen: “You have to remember they’ve been trying for centuries. They’re constantly improvising the recipes in hopes of finding that one magic element that will make it all happen. Idiots.”
So, let’s recap:
1. Maryann started out as human but really embraced the mantra “I think, therefore I am.”
2. Maenads tend to talk about a god that’s coming and seem to always be preparing for that day, but the god never comes.
3. The god actually exists.
4. Maryann is actually seeking death, true death, which will occur after she devours part of her “vessel” and surrenders herself to her god.
5. Maryann is at her weakest at this point.
In my mind, here are the key clues from Sophie Anne:
1. “She believes if she finds the perfect vessel, sacrifices and devours part of him, or her“.
2. “They prefer supernatural beings.”
3. “They’re constantly improvising the recipes in hopes of finding that one magic element that will make it all happen.”
My Theory?
Maryann will choose Sookie as the vessel instead of Sam. Yes, you heard right. Look at the 3 clues above. I think there’s a reason why Sophie Anne mentioned “her” in Clue #1. I also believe that Clue #3 tells us that Maryann, who’s curious about Sookie’s supernatural nature, will select Sookie because she thinks Sookie’s unique nature will allow her to summon her god.
The result? Eric and Bill will combine forces to kill Maryann. We saw what happened when Sookie touched her. It forced Maryann back. We also saw that Sookie and Bill together were able to remove the evil darkness from Tara’s body. So what if Sookie, Bill, Eric, (maybe even Barry the Bellboy) and other vampires (including Queen Sophie) join forces against Maryann? Remember, Bill asked Sookie if she could repeat what she did for Tara. I think that might be the key to getting rid of Maryann.
But remember, Maryann’s only at her weakest when she surrenders herself to Dionysus, which she wouldn’t do unless he’s actually present.
Hmmn, so, what do you think?
-How would you go about killing Maryann?
-Do you think Dionysus will make an appearance? If so, who is he?
-And lastly, what do you think will be the season’s cliffhanger?
Hit me up in the comments.
