new true blood cast

I just saw the photos for a bunch of the new True Blood cast members for Season Five and had to post them pronto! While it is true that we have known about these castings for a while now, we haven’t always been able to find out much about the characters for the new true blood cast. To just add to the excitement, the show has started to release a set of new promo posters that are just dripping with vampire charisma. I particularly love that many of the new cast are featured on them. One of them, Christopher, was recently given his first set of fangs for the promo poster here. Isn’t he just perfect?

Speaking of Christopher Meloni, he of the tall dark and dangerously handsome will be playing a new vampire called Roman. The former Law & Order star will be a regular on the show. Alan Ball describes his character Roman as an ancient vampire who holds a lot of power and will have Eric and Bill’s fate in his hands. Wow- now that sounds like a role this guy can really sink his teeth into! Sink his teeth into – vampire- get it! Well, in any event you can check him out below-

As for Scott Foley, it seems that he has got to be just about the only casting I have heard of that isn’t something paranormal. Scott will be playing Terry Bellefleur’s old war buddy, Patrick. And the weird thing is, Patrick is a human! For those of you who are fans of Scott’s at Grey’s Anatomy, have no fear. The shooting schedules don’t overlap and so while Scott’s role as Patrick is viewed as “pivotal” but not permanent, Scott seems to feel confident he can handle both roles with ease.

So that is the scoop for these two new true blood cast roles which we are looking forward to enjoying soon. Since they are sending out casting calls for faeries of every description for the penultimate episode, we know that they must be nearing the end of this season’s work. You know what that means, right? It means that soon we will get to see plenty of shirtless hunks with fangs!

Well there are still more spoilers to come as shooting continues on Season 5. Sookie says she cannot get involved with any more supernatural happenings. As if that is likely to happen, girl! But she swears to Lafayette that she cannot.

For a bit of a sneak peek at some upcoming scenes, check out these outtakes from the latest shooting of True Blood Season 5:

Stay tuned for more sneek peeks and True Blood spoilers coming soon!

true blood casting, true blood season five, new true blood season 5 cast member, Camille luddingtonThe cat has been finally let out of the bag with the decision to cast the final fairy that is to be a reoccurring role for True Blood Season Five. Claudette is a fairy with a special role this season. Played by actress Camilla Luddington, who was last seen in Californication as Lizzie, this fairy is one of Claude’s many sisters. She will be hanging out with Sookie a fair bit and giving our favorite waitress a few tips about life as a faerie.

The show has been fairly close mouthed about changes, upcoming scenes and even cast changes for this season. Even when talking on junkets to promote the show, the cast tends to say little to give away much about what we can expect this season. My guess is Ball, since this is his last season with the show in his current role as show runner, may be keeping an even tighter lid then usual in order to keep the suspense going until the premier this summer.

True Blood cast updates, True Blood Season Five Updates, True Blood NewsWe finally have some word about a few more cast changes for the upcoming season. Here is the latest including some changes in actors for specific characters, casting assigned for characters we told you about earlier but didn’t know who would play them and some new characters you can expect in the next season.

Nora- We had announced a while back that this season we would be seeing Eric with a sister, named Nora. At the time of the announcement of the character, which is not in the books, the role had not been cast. But it has now, and we are happy to say that Lucy Griffiths will be playing Nora (that is her above in the pic!). We are looking forward to seeing how this role is going to grow, as she will be an important part of the next season’s story.

And here are a few more changes we heard about that we thought you might want to know about coming up in the next season of True Blood:

Claude- Do you remember cousin Claude, the faerie? No, not that kind of faerie, the kind we have in True Blood. Well, he is back but this time around he will be portrayed by the actor Giles Matthey instead of Neil Hopkins. The role is not supposed to be a large one, but he will be showing up from time to time.

Pelt Family’s revenge – Finally, although I have not heard who will be cast, Debbie Pelt had family and they are going to be looking for answers next season. Since Sookie killed Debbie when Deb was about to shoot Sookie, but Tara jumped up to save her, we have known that trouble was bound to follow. Barbara and Gordon are Debbie Pelt parents and come to Bon Temps to find out the truth.

So that’s it for updates for now – more to come soon!

The lovely gal to my left here is the new character: Salome, so be sure to watch for her next season!

There are rumors floating around about some of the episodes that were cast recently. So just to keep the home fires burning, here are some bits and pieces we have found lately about what is happening on a few upcoming episodes for the new Season Five of True Blood:

Episode Four: We’ll Meet Again

Terry’s PTSD is clarified in this flashback episode that takes us back to the Iraq in 2003 when he and Patrick were stationed there. We will meet two new characters: Todd and Jemarcus who are also in their squad as they all travel to a small town for some R&R.

Meanwhile back in our usual time and place- we meet a new cast member, Judge Clements. He brings Jason and Andy for a little trip to a remote location to meet some lovely ladies. All goes well until one of them seems to know just a little too much about Jason. Can this be a new telepath?

And finally – Pam may be more of a maker then we knew as we watch her use a young female fangbanger to seduce a new vampire to feed on her. What is Pam up to now?

Little juicy from Alan Ball: This season, we are going to truly find out just what the Authority is really about. Honest- we got that straight from the man himself!

true blood season 3 dvd, true blood season 5 spoilers. True blood spoilers, true blood episodesHi to all the truebies waiting out the beginning of the new season. Like you I am getting by the dry spell by watching the True Blood Season 3 HD DVDs and wishing the Season 4 DVDs would come out. Latest rumor on that is we will be seeing Blueray and DVDs of the last season around the end of May in 2012. Sigh – just too long to wait, considering that the next season doesn’t start again until June.

Speaking of True Blood Season 5, there are some spoilers coming up I am going to share with you from Mr. Alan Ball. If you don’t want to know just put your fingers in your ears and go “blah, blah, blah” while I type. That only works when talking? OK – guess so. Then you may want to skip this if you don’t want a heads up on stuff coming down the pike for True Blood Season 5.

  • When it begins- there will be no interruption or time passing. True Blood Season 4 ended with Sookie holding Tara in the kitchen, and that scene is right where True Blood Season 5 will start. Personally, I love it when they do this for a season starter. It means the action gets kicked in right from the start.
  • The one thing I have been hearing from everyone is that we are finally going to see the scene (in a flashback, natch) of Eric turning Pam into a vampire. I am looking forward to that one.
  • Alan Ball says although he is going to be basing Season 5 on more than just the book Dead As A Doornail, it will still primarily be from that book. But expect to see things from other books as well. Of course, being the mysterious guy that he is (who, Alan?) he won’t say which books or how much. It may be fun to see if we can name what scenes come from other books in each episode. (Hmmm- could be the makings of a cool contest there.)
  • The rumor from the writing room is that research is going on about “other paranormals” but that zombies are not going to appear in True Blood Season 5.
  • As for who is coming back this season, the list so far is: Sookie, Bill and Eric (of course!) along with Sam, Jason, Pam, Alcide, Arlene, Terry, Jessica, Hoyt, Lafayette and Patrick. Contracts have also been confirmed for the following actors/characters: Denis O’Hare as Russell Edgington, Scott Foley as Patrick Devins, Rutina Wesley as Tara and Nelsan Ellis as Jesus.
  • Of course the great news is that Alan Ball is back again as executive producer, though I just can’t picture True Blood with anyone else.

That’s all the news for now folks! We will have more soon – I promise. We have to have some kind of True Blood tidbits to keep us all going until June – and I will do whatever I can to get you them as they appear.

Stay true- till then!

True Blood Season 5 In addition to some new cast members, we are going to see some familiar faces to True Blood that either weren’t around at all or were barely there last season. I always love it when a show brings back old characters, it shows the writers are paying attention to what the fans are looking for in a show. In the case of these two, they are truly back by popular demand. Both Russell Edginton, the Vampire King of Mississippi played by Denis O’Hare and the Rev. Steve Newlin played by Michael McMillian are characters that many of us voiced we were missing last season. Here is a sneak peak at what we have been hearing is coming up for these two:

Russell Edgington, the King of Mississippi (Denis O’Hare)

Word is out that Denis O’Hare will be returning in the upcoming season to reprise his role as the Vampire King of Mississippi. The character was first introduced in the books in Club Dead when Sookie heads down to Jackson looking for Erick and wanders into the bar called Josephine, known as Club Dead to the werewolves because it is a known hangout for vampires. O’Hare has always brought a more aggressive tone to the character than what we see in the books, and I for one hope that this will continue this season.

How he will break out of that cement underground prison we last saw him in, remains to be seen. In an interview about the return of the character, actor O’Hare gives little away but does say that “The people who busted (Edgington) out are nobody you expect.” How’s that for a clue? And word is that he may be returning as early as the first episode for the season. But the actor says that whatever is motivating the King of Mississippi will be beyond simple petty revenge for the death by stake of his lover Talbot. A couple of years entombed in a cement prison just might do that to you, even if you are a centuries-old vampire.

Steve Newlin, leader of the Fellowship of the Sun  (Michael McMillian)

It isn’t really news that Steve Newlin is back for the fifth season of True Blood. After all, we saw just a bit of him at the end of season four, though the character may not have been happy about the circumstances of that appearance. But the big news for the character in the new season is that he comes back with a full blown crush on Jason. In fact, actor Michael McMillian says that Steve Newlin has always had a crush on Jason, he just couldn’t show it before. That will not be the case with Season Five. No word yet on how much we will see of Steve but even the little forecast should be interesting.

If we hear anything more on these two or on anyone else coming back, we will let you know. Not that this leaves any of you off the hook. So – you TB fans out in La La land (hey I can say that, lived there too many years not to have those creds) what is the rumor mill saying? Share with everyone, c’mon! We will be sharing our score as soon as we have more!
