It’s The Witching Hour on True Blood Season 4, Ep1 – She’s Not There
Posted by: | Comments
Holy Fairy Godmother Batman! Tonight’s episode of True Blood Season 4 titled “She’s Not Here” starts off with a repeat of the True Blood Season 4 Preview from last week. But then, it’s off to the races. There are so many jaw dropping surprises that my head is still reeling.
So without further ado, here’s a pictorial recap of the episode:
After her trip to fairyland, Sookie returns home only to find a group of movers in her house. It appears that Sookie has been gone for a LONG time. So long that people assumed she was dead. In fact, Jason (who’s now a bona fide policeman) finds her in the house and tells her she’s been gone for “twelve and a half months.” To Sookie, she was only gone for 10-15 minutes. Sookie discovers that everyone thought she’d been killed by vampires.
Sookie (who’s still the sweet girl we love) gives Jason their grandfather’s pocket watch which is the only thing they have left of him.
And then, Bill appears on her porch, still professing his love for her. Unfortunately, Eric soon follows but Bill tells him to go away. But not before Eric says “everyone who claims to love you, your friends, your brother, even Bill Compton. They all gave up on you. I. NEVER. DID.”
When Andy Bellefleur (who’s now addicted to V) appears demanding to know where Sookie’s been, Bill defends her by telling Andy that she’s been working for him the entire time. Turns out, everyone thought Bill had killed her.
Even so, Sookie can’t totally forgive Bill his betrayal.
I love Lafayette’s new mohawk! He and Jesus visit a witches coven gathering. Holly is there along with some other new characters. The coven leader, Marnie, has a premonition about Lafayette and Eddie (remember Eddie the really nice vampire?). Well, Marnie picked up on that right off the bat and even starts speaking like him.
Lafayette gets angry at Jesus for taking him to the coven meeting, feeling he was set up. However, Jesus keeps telling Lafayette that he has a gift that he shouldn’t keep denying. He invites Lafayette to another meeting.
Andy Bellefleur is then manhandled by Andy who accuses him of holding out on him with his V. Fortunately, Jason comes to the rescue. Imagine that, Jason appears to have matured quite a bit and seems to be the only person that can keep Andy under control.
Meet Mikey – Demon Child. Arlene’s given birth to Rene’s child, little Mikey who seems to be JUST LIKE DADDY! Arlene finds him on the floor quite happy since he just pulled the heads off a bunch of Barbie dolls. This freaks her out of course since she’s convinced the kid is possessed.
Meet Tara, Warrior Princess. Since the season finale of True Blood Season 3 we saw Tara driving away from Bon Temps into the night. Turns out she’s been making the female wrestling circuit, fighting people in cages.
Okay, that’s not all that’s different about her. She’s apparently got a new FEMALE significant other. AND a new name. She’s now known as “Tony.”
What the Hell! Tommy, Sam’s brother, is now living with Maxine, Hoyt’s mother. And he’s now somewhat of a religious fanatic.
Jessica and Hoyt are living together and are having a few problems. While dancing at Fangtasia Jessica is approached by a cute guy and clearly wants to flirt back. When she goes to the ladies room Pam follows her and accurately identifies Jessica’s problem: she wants to hunt and drink the blood of other humans. Jessica denys it but it’s clear Pam is dead on (no pun intended).
Sam has new friends. He’s part of a sophisticated group that drinks fine wine, strips down naked and then shape shifts into horses that run through the woods at night.
Jason has become the surrogate dad to the poor and hungry kids at Hotshot. However, while attempting to grab something from the bottom of a large freezer, he’s hit over the head and shoved in – and the freezer is locked from the outside.
Lafayette can’t stay away from the witches. While at another coven meeting and sitting in a circle and holding hands with the rest of the witches, he witnesses their ability to RAISE THE DEAD in the form of a small parrot. It doesn’t live for very long but Marnie, the leader, is quite pleased with their accomplishment. It looks like Lafayette’s power helps make them stronger.
Oh, and one of the witches is clearly a double agent. She leaves the group to meet secretly with Bill.
BTW: Eric and Bill have become ambassadors of the new “We Heart Vampires” campaign headed by the American Vampire League. It’s hilarious to see them act like politicians trying to get votes.
While naked Sookie drys off from a shower she’s approached by Eric who tells her that he’s the person who purchased her house. Why? Because he always knew she was alive. Unfortunately, since Sookie no longer owns the house she can’t banish him from the property. The episode ends with Eric baring his fangs and telling Sookie “YOU ARE MINE.”So, what was the biggest surprise for you in tonight’s episode? Hit me up in the comments.

True Blood Season 4 PREVIEW
Posted by: | CommentsAwesome!
In the True Blood Season 4 preview we join Sookie in the Land of Fae. While there learns that Claudine is her fairy godmother, she meets up with Barry the Bellhop and gets a chance to talk to her grandfather (who must be her maternal grandfather because he doesn’t realize where he is. As you know, in the book her paternal grandfather is a magical creature.).
I tell you, fairyland is lovely, full of light and peace and new age music.
But not all is well in fairyland. Sure enough, Sookie realizes that the “light fruit” everyone is eating is bad. When approached by Queen Maeb, she realizes the Queen is someone that shouldn’t be trusted. She’s right.
In order to get away from the fae she she uses her power against the Queen which causes the fairy fascade to disappear and their true surroundings to be visible. It’s then that Sookie realizes she’s actually in a dark and evil place.
She and her grandfather run away from the evil fae until they come to the edge of a cliff. Sookie’s told that she has to make a choice: either stay in fairyland or go back to the human world. She has to think quick because the evil fairy queen is closing the portal between the two worlds.
Sookie chooses the human world and the preview ends.
I can’t wait for True Blood Season 4 to begin!
After a surprising decision by his father, Tyrion heads south. Arya assumes a new identity in an attempt to escape King’s Landing, At the Wall, Jon is forced to choose between the Night’s Watch and the family he left behind. Across the sea, Dany pays a terrible price for her love, but finds new hope.
Tonight is the Season 1 Finale of Game Of Thrones. I’m glad I was able to catch every episode since this is a FANTASTIC TV show!
As I was watching tonight’s Game Of Thrones finale a few songs went through my head. So each highlight is titled with a song which I think best describes what happens in the scene. Check out songs from Lady Gaga, The Smiths, Depeche Mode and others.
Top 10 Highlights from Game Of Thrones Episode 10: Fire And Blood
-
If I Were A Boy: One of Lord Stark’s men grabs Arya after she witnesses her father’s death. While telling her they’re going north he begins cutting her hair and referring to her as “boy.” Later, he gives her some advice on how she should behave, telling her that she’ll be in the company of cutthroats, thieves and rapists. Sure enough, a bully attempts to take her sword from her but Arya, not one to shy away from many people, pulls her sword Needle on him. He wisely backs down. Interestingly enough, one of King Robert’s illegitimate sons befriends her.
-
Caught Up In A Bad Romance: King Joffrey is one cruel and sick boy. When displeased with a singer’s performance, he gives the man the choice of losing either his tongue or his fingers. He’s not kidding either. He then takes Sansa to the tower where he shows her Lord Stark’s head on a stake. He promises her that after he raises an army, he’ll put her brother’s head on a stake as well.
-
Smack My B***h Up: Lady Catelyn has the opportunity to question Jaime Lannister about his role in her son Bran’s fall from the tower. When Jaime starts talking junk she picks up a rock and bashes him in the head. She then asks him what happened to her son Bran and he straight up tells her that he pushed Bran out of the window hoping the fall would kill him.
-
Wish You Were Here: Tywin Lannister sends his son Tyrion to King’s Landing to serve as The Hand Of The King to the evil King Joffrey. Tywin recognizes Tyrion’s intelligence and basically wants him to watch over the doings of Joffrey and his mother.
-
Zombie: When Daenerys awakens she learns that her newborn son was used as a sacrifice in order to keep Khal Drogo alive. When she asks to see her son the witch tells her “he was scaled like a lizard, winged. When I touched him his skin fell off.” However, the sacrifice worked. Sort of. Khal Drogo is indeed alive. But he’s in a vegetative state. He can’t speak or move on his own.
-
My Last Breath: Daenerys, totally distraught about Khal’s mental state, decides to take matters into her own hands. She grabs a pillow and smothers him. Yes, Khal Drogo is dead.
-
I Smell A Rat: Varys and Littlefinger have a chat about what they’d do if they were king. Varys tells Littlefinger that he’s one of the few men in the kingdom that doesn’t want that job. Littlefinger then makes comments about Varys’ eunuch status, surmising about his remaining equipment (or lack thereof).
-
Let’s Get It Started: Jon Snow, who’d recently tried to desert the Night’s Watch in order to join his family in the fight against the Lannisters, is rallied by his commander who tells the recruits that they’re duty bound to protect the Wall from white walkers and others. He’s inspired by the speech and has accepted his destiny to serve and protect.
-
Through The Fire: Daenerys gives Khal Drogo a proper burial which involves placing his body on a funeral pyre. Her 3 dragon’s eggs are placed with him and the evil witch is lashed to the pyre as well. Ser Jorah, who realizes that Daenerys plans to sacrifice herself, begs her to reconsider but her mind is made up. The fire is lit, the crazy witch (who’s burning) starts singing, and Daenerys walks regally into the fire, not making a sound.
-
Lotus Flower: The next morning Ser Jorah finds a naked Daenerys ALIVE in the fire pit with 3 hatched dragons!

Game Of Thrones Episode 10 Song Playlist
Here are some of the songs that were going through my head while I viewed this episode:
War Is Waged in Baelor, Game Of Thrones Ep9
Posted by: | CommentsThe battle begins in Game Of Thrones, pitching Starks vs. Lannisters. But of course, more than just the soldiers have their lives at stake . . . .
Ned refuses to which Varys replies “what of your daughters my lord?” and leaves.
The witch asks that Khal’s horse be brought into the tent – she then slaughters the horse, spilling buckets of blood on Khal. But here’s the rub: as the witch chants, strange sounds come from the tent. When one of Khal’s men tries to enter the tent Ser Jorah, who has donned his armor at Daenerys’ request, kills him.
As the strange sounds continue coming from the tent Daenerys goes into premature labor. The scene ends with Ser Jorah carrying Daenerys into Khal’s tent.
Later, she, Tyrion and Sellsword Bronn play a drinking game where they try to guess about each other’s past. The game reveals that Tyrion’s new lady friend didn’t come from a checkered past. Tyrion then tells the group a pretty tragic story about his wife.
The next morning, Tyrion is awakened by Bronn who tells him that he’s wanted at the front to fight. He rallies his ragtag group of mountain men who quite willingly rush off to do battle. As a matter of fact, they’re so enthusiastic that they knock Tyrion unconscious in their excitement. Yup, Tyrion missed the entire battle. Once again, he’s awaken by Bronn who tells him that they won their battle (which was against 2,000 Stark soldiers instead of the 20,000 they’d planned for).
Although Robb Stark’s men lost the first battle with the Lannisters, he’s successful in one respect: he captures Jaime Lannister! His victory is bittersweet though because 2,000 of his men were killed and he’s not yet freed his father and sisters.
As the episode ends, Lord Stark dies.
Yes, Lord Stark is dead and although I knew this was eventually coming but I must admit I’m still sad. Sean Bean was a superb Lord Eddard Stark.
The stakes in the Game Of Thrones just got higher.
It’s Fight Night in Game Of Thrones Ep8: A Pointy End
Posted by: | CommentsHere are the Highlights from Game Of Thrones Episode 8: A Pointy End
While practicing her swordsmanship, Arya and her instructor Syrio are surrounded by Lannister guards who demand that Arya come with them. They tell her that her father has sent for her. Syrio and Arya aren’t fooled because they know Lord Stark would never use Lannister guards. Syrio tells Arya to run while he holds off the guards. Before she leaves he’s defeated all but one armored guard, but that guard is pretty strong and is able to but Syrio’s sword at the handle. Arya runs away as we hear additional battles underway in the castle.
Sansa, Lord Stark’s oldest daughter, is told by the Queen and her men that her father is a traitor guilty of treason against the throne. She’s told that she must write her brother and ask that he come to King’s Landing to swear his allegiance to Prince Joffrey. Sansa writes the note once she’s issued a veiled threat that her father’s life depends on her compliance.
Lady Catelyn Stark, upon learning of the King’s death and her husband’s imprisonment, asks her mentally unstable sister for help. Her sister, Lysa Arryn, refuses.
Lady Stark later makes her way to the war camp that her son Robb, has set up.
Tyrion Lannister and sellsword Bronn are surrounded by a group of mountain clansmen while attempting to make their way through the forest. Tyrion, having the true gift of gab, is able to talk the would-be attackers out of killing them. He instead promises them riches if they ensure his safety during his journey. They agree and accompanies him to the Lannister war camp where he meets with his father, Lord Tywin.
While there, he learns of the King’s death and Lord Stark’s imprisonment.
Jon Snow attacks one of his Night’s Watch instructors and is confined to his quarters. That night he’s awakened by his direwolf, Ghost, whose barking warns him of an intruder.
Snow appears to defeat his attacker but then the would-be assassin gets back up! Snow and his commander escape as Snow throws a lantern at the attacker.
Later, as he and the other rangers are watching the attacker burn, his buddy Samwell Taryel tells him that the body was actually a corpse reanimated by a White Walker. He tells them of a prediction that “the white walkers sleep beneath the ice for a thousand years. And when you wake up . . . well, you’d better hope the wall is high enough.”
Daenerys witnessing one of the Dothraki’s typical raid, rape and pillage missions, commands the men to stop what they’re doing. Her husband, Khal Drogo, confronts her about her actions and she skillfully tells him that instead of raping and killing the women, they should be used for wives. Khal Drogo agrees but one of his men does not and publicly disrespects him.
A battle ensues and Khal is victorious. All I can say is that he’s a bad so-and-so because he fights the man unarmed. He ends the fight by ripping out the man’s throat.
Unfortunately, he’s injured during the fight but one of the female prisoners claims to have healing skills. Daenerys agrees to let her treat her husband.
Robb Stark is now leading an army of men that plan to attack the Lannisters. He and his men have to decide which Lannister to attack: Jamie and his men or Tywin’s men. While planning their strategy, a captured Lannister spy is captured. Surprisingly enough, Robb lets him go with a warning for Tywin: “winter is coming. Tell him that 20,000 men of the north are marching south.”The episode ends with Sansa publicly admitting her father’s guilt while also pleading for her father’s life. She kneels before Prince Joffrey begging for his kindness.
Prince Joffrey listens and then tell her that unless her father confesses and claims Prince Joffrey as his king, there will be no mercy for him. Sansa states “he will.”
Highlights From You Win Or You Die – Game Of Thrones Ep7
Posted by: | CommentsHere’s what happened tonight in Game Of Thrones Episode 7: You Win Or You Die:
Lord Ned Stark confronts Queen Cersei about the death of his predecessor, Jon Arryn. He also tells the Queen that he knows that his youngest son Bran must have seen her in flgranti with her brother. She explains that she once worshiped her husband but that the King couldn’t get over his love for his first wife. She said “your sister was a corpse and I was a living girl yet he loved her more than me.” Ned orders her to gather her family and leave King’s Landing.
King Robert is seriously gored by a boar while hunting. Knowing he’s dying he has everyone leave his bedside except Lord Stark and signs a statement in which he names Stark as Lord Regent and Protector Of The Realm until his son Joffrey comes of age. He asks Stark to help Prince Joffrey after he’s gone. He also rescinds his order to have Daenerys assassinated.
Ser Jorah, former knight to King Aerys, receives a pardon from King Robert, allowing him to return home. While pondering this news he witnesses a winemaker give Daenerys a “special” cask of wine. Suspecting that mischief might be afoot he asks the winemaker to taste the wine – the winemaker then attempts to run away but he’s captured.
Jon Snow learns that he won’t be accepted as a Night’s Watch ranger. Instead, he’s assigned to the builder’s group. This is a big slap in the face for Snow because he knows he’s a good swordsman but he also knows that Alliser Thorne was responsible for this insult. His new buddy, the not very brave Samwell Tarley, tells him to use his new position to his advantage. He explains that by working closely with Maester Aemon, Snow will have the 411 on everything that’s going on.
Littlefinger recounts how he fought a duel with Brandon Stark (Lord Stark’s older brother) for the hand of Catelyn Stark (who was Catelyn Tully at the time). He lost the duel but although Brandon died, Catelyn didn’t choose him. Instead, she chose Ned.
Khal Drogo, the barbaric (and REALLY sexy) leader of the Dothraki gets ANGRY once he learns of the attempt to kill his pregnant wife Daenerys. He vows to conquer “the Iron Throne that his mother’s father sat upon.” He says “I will kill the men in the iron suits.” Alright!
Although King Robert wanted Lord Stark to rule upon his death, Queen Cersei put her son Joffrey on the throne. When Stark presents the King’s written statement to the Queen, she tears up the document. She tells him to bow before the new King. When he refuses, swords are drawn but Stark asks that there be no bloodshed. However, his loyal men are attacked and surprise, surprise, not all of his men are actually on his side. The series ends with Littlefinger holding a knife to Stark’s throat stating “I told you not to trust me.”
Can’t wait for the next episode!
Review of A Golden Crown – Game Of Thrones Ep6
Posted by: | CommentsHere’s what happened tonight in Game Of Thrones Episode 6: A Golden Crown
Lord Stark awakens and finds King Robert and Queen Cersei standing over him. Although he wants to go after Jaime for revenge, the King won’t let him. The King is in debt to Jamie’s father and doesn’t want to stir up trouble with the Lannisters. However he does let Stark sit on the throne in his absence while he’s away on a hunting expedition.
Bran gets to test his special made saddle. It works perfectly and he’s one happy kid. However, he’s approached by people in the forest and is ordered to dismount. They debate whether to take him as a hostage when Bran’s oldest brother, Robb Stark appears. A fight ensues but then one of them drags Bran off his horse and holds a knife to his throat. Fortunately, Theon Greyjoy saves the day by killing him. Robb decide to let the female live.
Lord Stark decided to take his daughters home to Winterfell, much to the dismay of his oldest daughter Sansa. She wants to stay and some day marry Joffrey, who will one day be king.
BTW, I really like Arya Stark’s master sword-fighter, Syrio Forel. He’s the perfect teacher for her; he’s patient, no nonsense and clearly admires Arya.
Daenerys (or Dany) is given a bloody stallion heart to eat by her husband, Khal Drogo. She’s been preparing for this ceremony by eating blood for several days. This is an important rite of passage because the Dothraki believe that if she can eat the heart and keep it down her son will be strong and brave. Apparently her pre-work has helped because she’s able to eat the entire heart without getting sick. Khal Drogo couldn’t have been prouder of his wife.
Meet Tyrion: Dead Comic Standing. At the Eyrie, when told of his crimes (murder and attempted murder) Tyrion takes his capture quite lightly. As a matter of fact, he cracks a few jokes while talking to Lysa Arryn, Catelyn Stark’s disturbed sister. But the event turns serious when Tyrion demands Trial By Combat. Tyrion selects as his champion, sellsword Bronn who promptly defeats the knight chosen by Lysa Arryn. (Did anyone get the name of the champion that faught Bronn? If so, hit me up in the comments section.)
Who’s Ya’ Daddy? Lord Stark browses through a book that outlines the history of the Baratheons and discovers that they’re all described as being “black of hair.” It’s only when he gets to Joffrey Lannister, the King’s son, that he notices a drastic change in the descriptions of the siblings. He recognizes that there’s a fairly blatant difference between the dark-haired Baratheons and the pale blond haired Lannisters. Hmmn.
Holy King Midas Batman! Viserys tells Jorah Mormont that the eggs given to Dany as a wedding gift will help him fund his mission to reclaim the throne. He’s still on this “what’s hers is mine kick.” Later, Viserys, clearly drunk, staggers inside and rants about his rightful ownership of the thrown and how he “wants the crown that was promised” to him. Well he probably should have chosen his words more carefully because Khal Drogo decides to accommodate him and give him his crown: he pours a pot of molten gold over Viserys’ head, thereby granting him his wish to be crowned king.
Surprisingly, right before Viserys is killed, I started feeling sorry for him. If you’ve read the first Game Of Thrones book you know that he and Daenerys wandered around for years after their father the King was killed, existing only on the kindness of others until eventually that option went away. I see Viserys as a sad young man who lost his father while still a child and whose mother died giving birth to his sister. He had an elevated sense of entitlement, was probably never taught right from wrong and as such, had horrendous social skills. Oh well, good-bye Viserys. You’re the first regular character to die in the Game Of Thrones TV series.
