The video trailer for the next Harry Potter movie “The Half Blood Prince” is available. Check it out below. As you can see, the movies are getting darker and more sinister just like the books.

Can you imagine what the kid who stars as the young Voldemort will have to suffer through? First off, look at his name. Hero Fiennes-Tiffin. Are you kidding me? His first name is Hero and he’s playing the 11-year old version of Lord Voldemort, a murderous villain. People will have a field day with that one. And honestly, what were his parents thinking naming him Hero? No matter what that kid does in life he’ll probably always be ridiculed about his first name.

UPDATE: I just noticed that his last name is Fiennes-Tiffin. Hmmn. Is it a coincidence that the actor playing the adult Lord Voldemort is Ralph Fiennes? Nope. Turns out “Hero” is “Ralph’s” nephew. Don’t get me started on the pronunciation of Ralph Fiennes’ first name (“rafe”). In my opinion his name is Ralph and no amount of British affectation can change that. It’s like a line from the film Joe Dirt in which David Spade says “Hi my name is Joe Dirt. That’s pronounced Joe Dir-tay.”

Anyway, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be released in theaters November 21st.

This is Book 4 in the Kitty Norville series by Carrie Vaughn. If you’ve read the last book “Kitty Takes a Holiday” you know that Cormac, the gun-loving mercenary vampire and werewolf hunter, is in prison for killing someone in order to save Kitty. That leaves Kitty and Ben (a newly made werewolf) to fend for themselves.

This fantasy book opens with them receiving a visit from a local vampire named Rick. It seems that Rick wants to overthrow the Denver master vampire and wants Kitty to help him. He also Read More→

One of my favorite new authors, J.F. Lewis, has joined the wacky folks over at the League of Reluctant Adults, one of my favorite urban fantasy sites. If you’ve never heard of them you should check them out, they’re hilarious.

J.F. Lewis is the author of the book “Staked” which I reviewed at this site a while back. I can’t wait for his latest edition which I believe is due to hit the streets either late this year or early next year.

Here’s hoping I can nab an ARC of that gem!
